Where's the best place to stay in denver that doesnt cost too much?

me and my partner are travelling from the UK to denver to see the foo fighters play at the pepsi centre, were really to decide where to stay, any ideas???? also were staying for a week, and it'll be in october, so any info on what clothes to take? whats the weather like at that time of year and what places can we visit while there? its so beautiful in colorado, want to squeeze in as much as i can!!!!
